Capricorn Ingress 2018

USA

General considerations

For the USA, the Capricorn Ingress has similar angles to the Aries and Cancer Ingresses so we can expect to see the same or similar significators in the Capricorn Ingress.  For example, the President and the ruling party are signified by Jupiter and the opposition party has Mercury as significator.

1st house – the people

We have Cancer on the Ascendant which gives the Moon as the significator of the people.  We have a very strong Saturn in his own sign in the 7th house opposing the place of the Ascendant.  This can suggest some difficulty arising for the people from open enemies, the law and from the economic practices of other countries.

The Moon is peregrine is in the 12th house of isolation, prisons and secret enemies.  The Moon is squared by a strong Mars in the 10th house who rules.  This is another indication of difficulty and perhaps some sort of attack arising from government action.  The Moon also opposes the Sun (i.e., it is waxing) in the 6th house.  These are all difficult aspects and suggest an uncomfortable 3 months.

2nd house – the wealth of people, the economy

We have early Leo on the cusp and the North Node conjuncting the cusp.  This indicates a focus on the economy during the next 3 months.  The North Node here can show increase, as it is of the nature of the benefics Venus and Jupiter, but it is also a general indication of instability.

The Ruler of the 2nd house is the Sun who is peregrine and in the cadent 6th.  This is not a good sign for the economy as the Sun does not have strong dignity this quarter.  The Sun also applies to conjoin a very strong Saturn suggesting a contraction of the economy this quarter.  Whatever is signified by this conjunction we might expect to see in very early January (the conjunction perfects on News Years Day).  Following this, the Sun moves on to conjunct Pluto first (on 10 January) then the South Node (on 16 January).

Another way of considering the economy is by looking at the Part of Fortune.  In the Capricorn Ingress we have the Part of Fortune angular in the 7th house in Capricorn.  It is separating from a conjunction to its ruler Saturn however it is in conjunction to Pluto with less than half a degree.  The ruler of the Part of Fortune is a very strong Saturn who is however under the Sun’s beams and headed towards combustion.  What this likely suggests is that the economy starts off quite string but then experiences problems and gets worse.

10th house and 11th house – the ruler and the ruling party; government

The first thing to note here is the proximity of Neptune and Mars to the 10th cusp which can suggest some conflict and secret enemies within the government.

The 10th house ruler is Jupiter who is very strong in his own sign of Sagittarius, in triplicity and term.  Jupiter is cadent in the 6th house which can suggest a focus on employment, jobs and the health system and pharmaceutical companies.  Jupiter also rules the 6th house of employment so we may see some growth in jobs his quarter.

The dignity of Jupiter suggest a strong ruling party, however there are some issues of concern.  Firstly, Jupiter is just separating from a conjunction with Mercury who is debilitated and the ruler of the 12th house of secret enemies (as well as the opposition party).  Both Mercury and Jupiter are conjunct the fixed star Antares who has the nature of Mars and Jupiter.  Antares is a star often associated with conflict and violence.  This could indicate an attack of some sort on the President or some conflict between the President and the opposition party.

It is also worth considering Jupiter and Mercury are both squared by Neptune in the 9th house but very close to the 10th house cusp.

The 11th house cusp signifying government is in Aries ruled by Mars, who is strong in his triplicity, term and face.  However, we have Uranus in close proximity to the 11th house cusp which may suggest some shakeup and sudden changes here.

4th house – the opposition party; the land, home and buildings

The 4th house cusp is in Virgo who is ruled by Mercury.  Mercury is extremely weak in his detriment though he has some mild dignity by face.  Mercury is just separating from a partile conjunction with Jupiter and is squared by Neptune.  Mercury is conjunct the fixed star Antares which may indicate some violence and malevolent actions from the opposition party.

7th house – neighbouring countries, partnerships, open enemies

The cusp of the 7th house is in Capricorn whose ruler is Saturn strong in his own sign.  Saturn is in the 7th house and rules 7th, 8th and 9th houses.  Saturn is applying to combustion with the Sun and this aspect perfects on 1 Jan.  Saturn applies to sextile Neptune perfecting on 31 Jan.

A strong Saturn often indicates strong enemies but also the establishment of firm relationships.  However, Saturn is a malefic and any relationships that are established are unlikely to be pleasant or comfortable for both parties concerned.  The applying conjunction to the Sun can suggest deteriorating relationships that impact the wealth of the nation as the Sun rules the 2nd house.  The South Node conjunct the 8th house cusp can also suggest some instability in the economy of partnering countries.

9th house – international affairs, relations, law, religion

The cusp is in Aquarius who is ruled by Saturn so we can expect similar issues as those indicated in the 7th house section.

International affairs may face some opposition when Saturn conjuncts the Sun and sextiles Neptune, but I suspect these matters will progress with some considerable difficulty towards some degree of solidity.  Given that Saturn also rules the 9th house, it will be interesting to see if there is some shakeup in the Supreme Court when Saturn faces these difficult aspects.

The UK and the EU countries

As the Aries Ingress for the UK and most of the EU countries had a mutable sign rising, please refer back to the Libra Ingress which still holds for the next quarter.

We had Venus ruling the 10th house in these charts with Uranus close to the 10th house cusp and suggested that we might see some issues arising for the leaders of these countries especially around the time Venus was opposed by Uranus.  And indeed we saw Chancellor Merkel advising that she would not seek re-election as chair of the CDU when the first opposition between Venus and Uranus happened, and PM May faced defeat in the UK parliament on her proposed Brexit plans shortly after the second opposition.  These issues are likely to continue while Venus remains in Scorpio.

As the Sun rules the 1st house of the people, we can expect to see some harm come to the people when the Sun enters Capricorn and conjuncts Saturn, Pluto and then the South Node.

With Aries on the 9th house cusp, we might also see some conflict in international relations when Mars enters Aries on the 31st of January.  This ire may be aimed at furthering tensions between NATO and Russia as Aries rules the 7th house of open enemies in the Capricorn Ingress for Russia, although we can probably expect this conflict to happen between European countries opposed to the EU project.

  1. Wonderfully written and interpreted. Need to correct the following paragraph:

The 11th house cusp signifying government is in Aries who is strong in his triplicity, term and face. However, we have Uranus in close proximity to Uranus which may suggest some shakeup and sudden changes here.

I believe you meant to say …is in Aries, ruled by Mars who is strong in his…

Also, Uranus in close proximity to Uranus? Oops! 🙂
