Mercury was dignified by domicile in Gemini recently and I used the opportunity to create some Mercury Talismans for Good Reputation and Charisma that I am offering here for sale. The chart for this election is below.
The election and creation
Mercury is culminating in his own sign of Gemini. The Moon is waxing and she makes applying sextiles to the Sun and Venus. It is Mercury hour, and Mercury makes an applying out-of-sign conjunction to the North Node. The North Node is considered benefic, of the nature of Venus and Jupiter, and it greatly magnifies the power of the planet that it conjoins.
Mercury is also conjunct the fixed star Betelgeuse in the Orion constellation. It is of the nature of Mars and Mercury, according to Ptolemy, and this will have the effect of augmenting the power of Mercury in this election. According to the Astronomica of Manilius:
“Orion will fashion alert minds and agile bodies, souls prompt to respond to duty’s call, and hearts which press on with unflagging energy in spite of every trial. A son of Orion’s will be worth a multitude and will seem to dwell in every quarter of the city; flying from door to door with the one word of morning greeting, he will enjoy the friendship of all.”
The conjunction of Mercury with the star Betelgeuse will increase the power of the talisman to increase reputation and the good will of others.
The ritual invocation of Mercury and the consecration of the talisman occurred during Mercury hour, and the images and sigils were engraved on an 18×13 moss agate cabochon, a stone associated with Mercury, when Mercury was conjunct the Midheaven.
The back of the talisman bears the image of a frog. This is a talismanic image associated with Mercury and described in the Picatrix as an image made so that “everyone you meet will speak well of you and say good things about your works” (Chapter II, Book 10, The Picatrix translated by John Michael Greer and Christopher Warnock).
The front of the talisman bears the sigils of Tiriel, the Intelligence of Mercury, and Taphthatharath, the Spirit of Mercury, all of whom were invoked in its creation.
What are Mercury Talismans good for?
Agrippa tells us that a Mercury talisman “confers knowledge, eloquence, diligence in merchandising and gain; moreover to beget peace and concord, and to cure fevers…” – Henry Cornelius Agrippa. Book 2, Chapter 43, Three Books of Occult Philosophy translated by Joseph H Peterson.
William Lilly tells us that a person with a strong Mercury is “a man of a subtil and politick brain, intellect, and cogitation; an excellent disputant or logician, arguing with learning and discretion, and using much eloquence in his speech, a searcher into all kinds of mysteries and learning, sharp and witty, learning almost anything without a teacher; ambitious of being exquisite in every science, desirous naturally of travel and seeing foreign parts: a man of an unwearied fancy, curious in the search of any occult knowledge; able by his own genius to produce wonders; given to divination and the more secret knowledge; if he turn merchant, no man exceeds him in a way of trade or invention of new ways whereby to obtain wealth.”

How they work
