“If you do this for two friends, make the 11th house of the first image the ascendant of the second image; and if you wish to generate friendship between man and wife, make the ascendant of the second image the seventh house of the first image. And make it so the lord of the ascendant of the one who will return the friendship [i.e., the friend or wife] makes as good aspect with reception to the lord of the ascendant of the other image. Then join the images and bury them in the place of the one who is to have friendship [i.e., you] and they will be friends as before.” – Book 1, Chapter 3, Greer and Warnock translation
As an example, let us assume that you want to create friendship between two people (reconcile two friends), you would do the following:

Cast a chart for the moment you will start on the first image which will be an image of you or the one for whom you are doing the work
In practical terms this can either entail making a poppet in the likeness of the first person or as simple as printing or preparing (e.g., with condition oils, fluid condensers, etc) a photograph.

Take a note of the cusp of the 11th house for the chart you cast in step 1 and find an election for when this ascendant is rising and when the lord of the ascendant of this second chart applies by trine or sextile to the lord of the ascendant of the first chart cast in Step 1. We also require reception, that is, we want the lord of the ascendant of the second image in a dignity (preferably house or exaltation) of the lord of the ascendant of the first image.

At this elected time we make the second image in the likeness of the friend, join them together and then bury them in the residence of the first person.
Now, the Picatrix does not tell us whether we want the exact cusp on the 11th house rising when we create the second image or whether the rising sign is sufficient. Ideally we want the exact cusp rising, the moon strong in both elections, both ascendants and their lords strong and not unfortunate. Sometimes, however, it is a case of looking for the best option at a convenient time rather than waiting years for the perfect time. As such, and given that we are looking for an application between the lords of the respective ascendants. I feel it is sufficient to work by whole signs. That is, as long as the correct sign is rising and the other conditions are fulfilled, we can proceed with our work.
We can follow the same pattern for other types of relationships:
Husband with wife, or romantic partners: The 7th House of the first image is the ascendant of the second image
Parent with their child: the 5th House of the first image is the ascendant of the second image
You and your mother-in-law: the 4th House (10th from the 7th) of the first image is the ascendant of the second image
You and your boss: the 10th House of the first image is the ascendant of the second image
