Recently I have been experiementing with utilising the gemstones associated with the planets in talismanic magic. Gemstones are used in Vedic astrology quite frequently, and they are quite effective even without any particular magical ritual to charge and vitalise them (although they do still require a time to be elected for their first wearing). Using gems along with the panoply of magical techniques from grimoires such as the Picatrix makes them immensely more powerful in my experience.
I currently have a Venus talisman for wealth and prosperity made on malachite, one Saturn talisman for wisdom, longecity and magical power created on hematite while it was still quite slow (this makes Saturn extra Saturnine – a good thing in this instance), and a beautiful carnelian Sun talisman made during a very rare Solar election for invincibility, success and vision.
