Astrological talismans and their effects

Just as the influences of the planets and fixed stars reigning at a particular time and place are impressed upon body and soul of someone born at that time and particular place, it is possible to impregnate a physical object with a particular celestial influence.

A talisman is created through a combination of timing, with the construction taking place when the celestial influences are at their peak, an appropriate physical basis that has the ability to receive the influence of the celestial influence due to similarity or correspondence with the influence, 3) inscription with figures, divine names and symbols consonant with the influence, 4) invocation of spirits who rule over or direct the power of the planet or star to consecrate (literally ‘make sacred’) the talisman to indwell the talisman itself, and 5) intention, that is, giving the talisman a mission through the charge to the spirit or impressing the effect on the talisman through the imaginative faculty.

How astrological talismans work

Once it has been created, a talisman is basically a battery of celestial influence which seeps into the sphere of sensation (the aura, for want of a better word) of the wearer and which, over time, has a balancing and strengthening effect correcting any issues resulting from a weak or afflicted planet in the nativity.

Although most talismans in traditional astrological magic are made for physical results, they tend to work first on an astral and mental level. As an example, if you are wearing a Jupiter talisman for wealth it might suffuse you with feelings of abundance with concomitant changes in your attitudes toward money, you may be inspired to take action towards your wealth goals, and, ultimately, the feeling of abundance attracts prosperity to you directly.

Beware, however, that the results are dependent upon the strength of the planet and the significators of the condition you are trying to change in your nativity. Much as someone who is a mesomorph might have superior genetics for strength development than someone who is an ectomorph, the results of a wealth talisman will be limited by the strength of the significators of wealth in your nativity. Sometimes relying on your strengths is the best option. Yes, traditionally, Jupiter is used for money (or the Sun for gold), but you can approach wealth through the strongest planet in nativity. If, for example, Mercury is the strongest planet, wearing a Mercury talisman might be a better option (given that Mercury is the planet of thieves and magic, don;t be surprised if the money turns up in unexpected ways!)
